The standard model has three cups. It was originally designed to retain a slug of thick chemicals during internal coating of existing pipelines. Pipeline pressure expands the cups to form an active seal: the greater the pressure behind the pig, the more firmly the cups press against the pipe wall. These pigs offer exceptionally long service life and are well suited for filling or dewatering long pipelines. Custom options include tracking transmitters and brushes for more aggressive cleaning.
