Notes:
The previous animation has been greatly simplified to convey theory
of the Process Pigging System. Implementation of three-way valves
and other fittings (not shown) may be required in order to achieve
the illustrated product flows. However, it is easy to see how with
the addition of the Process Pigging System, enormous savings can
be gained.
Additional applications (also not shown) can be solvent flushes
in between batches, if product type requires. The important difference
is that with a very small amount of solvent, placed in between two
pigs, can be run through the line, rather than having to fill entire
line with solvent. Obviously, this equates to additional savings,
but furthermore, because the pigs have removed the majority of product
(up to 99% in a single run), the small slug of solvent could be
re-used several times before having to be disposed, increasing savings
further.
Also, by adding Pig Passage Indicators and solenoids to actuate
valves, the entire system can be fully automated, or can be operated
by a single operator in a control room with the push of a single
button.
