Our company was founded because there was a void in the pig manufacturing process. Some companies manufactured foam pigs, some steel pigs, and others cups, discs and spare components, but no one manufactured a total inclusive line. Pigs Unlimited, Inc. fills this gap by manufacturing all styles of pigs and pig replacement parts including cups, discs, wire brushes, and paraffin blades. The founders of Pigs Unlimited, Inc. realized this shortcoming through their combined fifty years of experience in the pigging industry.

Since their conception, pigs have been cleaning pipelines in the oil and gas industry for over 40 years. However, currently pigs are being used to clean pipelines in all types of industries including municipalities, power plants, mining, refineries, chemical plants, pulp and paper mills, food and beverage, cosmetic and pharmaceutical. Over the years, pigs have evolved from basic "plugs" to being fairly sophisticated pipeline cleaning devices. Standard sizes range from 2" to 48”, but they can be manufactured in varying lengths, diameters, styles and configurations to best suit your application.

The mechanics behind pigging are quite simple. A pig is inserted into the line to be cleaned by means of a launcher. This is simply an oversized barrel with a reducer mating to the existing line. This allows for easy insertion of the pig, because a pig's outer diameter (o.d.) is larger than the pipe's internal diameter (i.d.) in order to maintain a good seal. Once in the launcher, a propelling medium is introduced to launch the pig. This can be any type of gas or liquid. Normally, the pipeline's product is used. The pig's path is determined by isolating the line to be cleaned by closing valves to lateral lines, if present.

On the receiving end, the same oversized barrel design is used as a receiver, allowing for easy removal of the pig from the line. As long as all pertinent information, (i.e. line size, pipe i.d., length of line, buildup thickness, valve and fitting types, etc.), are known beforehand, there should be no complications.

Of the many pigs we offer, our line of foam pigs, with sizes ranging from 2" to 48", include bare swabs, criss-cross, wirebrush, silicon carbide, plastic bristle and total-wire designs. Our foam mixing and pouring machines allow us to offer standard two-pound, five-pound and eight-pound densities, as well as, special densities for specific applications. Our abrasive series of foam pigs for cleaning applications, include standard carbon steel wire, stainless steel wire, silicon carbide (in loose grit or bonded strap), and plastic bristle for internally coated and various plastic pipe types (PVC, fiberglass, HDPE).

Our line of solid-cast pigs include various types such as cup-type, disc-type, combination cup-and-disc type, as well as, modular solid-cast pigs with all individual components of the pig being manufactured from polyurethane. All styles of our utility solid-cast pigs are able to accommodate brushes for cleaning applications and transmitters for tracking applications.

As for steel-mandrel pigs, we manufacture sizes ranging from 2" to 48" nominal pipe diameters with configurations including, but not limited to, two-cup, four-cup, two-disc, four-disc, conical-cup, multi-disc, articulated pigs, and pigs with wire brushes or paraffin-removal blades.

Complementing our line of steel pigs, Pigs Unlimited, Inc. is the only full-line pig manufacturer that builds replacement pig brushes in-house. These include carbon steel, stainless steel, and prostran for internally coated and plastic pipes. Various design types are wire-wheel, circular-hub, wrap-around, and spring-mounted. Replacement brushes can be manufactured for use with our steel pigs or for other manufacturer's pigs.

As a standard, our field-proven spare cups, discs and other spare components are manufactured to an 80 Shore A durometer. However, varying durometers can be supplied for other specific custom applications. In addition to our standard polyurethane, other compounds for spare-component construction include neoprene, epdm, buna-n, hypalon and viton for extreme high and low-temperature applications, or for special chemical-resistant applications.

Besides our standard line of pipeline pigs, we also have the capacity and willingness to manufacture specialized products under contract where required by client companies.
